Then a Staff Pastor for for a large church for 8 years in which the present tools were perfected that has become the foundational principles for Church Growth Consultant today.
Living in Chattanooga since ’87, I’m currently a Single-Parent raising my 11 year old son Christopher.
My greatest accomplishment I believe in Ministry was several years ago when I first implemented these principles as a Staff Pastor over our Assimilation Program. I had made a contact with a young lady attending our church at the time by noticing she would come in late & leave early wearing a ball cap, large jean winter coat & a long old jean shirt, the same apparel every week. As I would shake her hand as she would come in and exiting, I felt lead one day to invite her to the upcoming Membership Class. She politely declined, but I was persistent the following weeks with the same invitation. She did attend, she was the first one there, the last to leave, opposite of her Sunday worship service attendance. I asked several others to greet her and there was a connection of staff & a new member! During the Membership Class I asked her to be a part of the Greeter Ministry with the informational meeting coming up the very next Sunday, she smiled & accepted. After the 4 training classes of the Greeter Ministry this lady who looked in her mid 30’s was actually 26. She came to the first pre-service Greeter Ministry prayer room, & I did not know who she was. She had lost 25 lbs. in recent weeks, bought new clothes for this Sunday as her first day of Greeting, a new hair style, & a smile I had never seen the such before! As she entered the door, there was a glow on her face like this is where she was to be & the beginning of great things to come! She had accepted Christ months before through a TV program of the church, & began attending our church. She at the same time had graduated from college first in her class as a CPA. As she served in the Greeter Ministry she became friends with the Director of the Churches Bookstore. After her 3 month commitment to the Greeter Ministry was completed, she volunteered in the Bookstore Ministry Area, in which she is now the Director for the past 7 years.
I honestly believe if I had no made that connection along with the Assimilation Program, Stacy would not be a part of the body of Christ, and thru the Assimilation Program of that local church, today she is a foundational part of the leadership of that local church.
